INDUSTRIAL SLOWDOWN TO PUT ADDITIONAL STRESS ON CV LOANS

As per the market sources, the continuing slowdown in the industrial sector along with unresponsive private consumption and rising diesel prices are likely to increase the stress in the commercial vehicle loan segment.

CV operator’s margins are expected to shrink if there is further rise in diesel prices.

Stable outlook was maintained both on asset performance and Asset Based Securities (ABS) transactions backed by tractor loans as the farm borrowers continue to be aided by a stable rise in minimum support prices, favourable rains and rural development initiatives.

What is the biggest truck in the world?

The world's biggest truck isn't a Ford F-450 Crew Cab pickup truck, or even a Mack truck with a double trailer. The biggest trucks in the world are used in mining, and perhaps calling them big is an understatement -- these trucks are truly enormous.
The giant dump trucks used to haul heavy metal ores out of mining pits weigh in the neighborhood of one million pounds (453,592 kilograms) and can carry and dump more than 300 tons (300,000 kilograms) of material in the back. Where a Honda Fit has 117 horsepower and a Jaguar XF has 300 horsepower, these mining trucks have about 3,000 horsepower available for moving all that mass.
Big Trucks by the Numbers

There are only a few companies that build the truly big trucks used in mining. Here are the contenders and the dimensions for each, including horsepower and payload, listed in alphabetical order by manufacturer:
Caterpillar 797B
  • Height: 23' 6" (7.2 meters)
  • Length: 47' 7" (14.5 meters)
  • GVW: 688 tons (688,000 kilograms)
  • Payload: 380 tons (380,000 kilograms)
  • Engine: 3,370 horsepower
Hitachi EH5000
  • Height: 23' 6" (7.2 meters)
  • Length: 47' 4" (14.4 meters)
  • GVW: 642 tons (642, 000 kilograms)
  • Payload: 315 tons (315,000 kilograms)
  • Engine: 2,700 horsepower and more, just read here

Used Merc demand equals new car

As per recent market trends, the demand for used Mercedes has now become equal to the demand for new luxury cars. The cost of a new Skoda is 16-17 lakh and a used Mercedes Benz C Class is also available at the same price. In such a scenario, most of the people prefer to go for the latter option. 3-4 year old Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes Benz C Class are counted in the best seller’s category and are available in the price range of 15-20 lakh. The 2008 model of Benz C Class in petrol version is of 12 lakh at present.

According to industry officials, the pre-owned luxury car market is estimated to be around 30,000 units per year. The market scenario is same for new luxury cars as well.

“People are changing their cars quite fast these days,” an Audi spokesperson said. BMW did not respond to HT’s request for a comment. Vinay Sanghi, chief of online car sales firm Cartrade, which is connected to 1,200 used car dealers across India, said most luxury car owners change their vehicles in three years, leading to a large supply of these cars in the second hand market.
Cartrade estimates the market for second-hand luxury cars to be about 30,000 units per year — the same as the market for new luxury cars. Most people HT spoke to said this estimate was largely accurate. “There is huge demand for used luxury cars that we can’t cater to,” said Yatin Chadha, senior V-P, Mahindra First Choice, largest seller of used cars in India. It recently opened its first showroom exclusively for used luxury cars in Gurgaon.
That demand was met by the unorganised sector. And as the market for luxury cars grows, the used car market is expected to grow in tandem.
