Time for Used Car Safety Tips

Here Come’s the Monsoon!

We all stand in the mid of 2014 and monsoons are soon expected to drench the roads. With those tiny droplets of water, the entire city is going to experience the most amazing phase of the year. But, what about the wheels on road! Well, it’s time for them to tighten their grip and hold onto the road as they might witness a slippery phase of their life.

The onset of a monsoon season is quite an alarming period for used cars, especially. A need for their repair mostly arises during this phase only. So, here are some safety tips for used cars during monsoon.
·         Before you take your used car out for a drive in rain, make sure its tyres, wipers and brakes are working properly. Good visibility in rain is possible only through good quality wipers, which are often neglected by people. Get them repaired even in the slightest of doubt.
·          Next, check the tyres of your used car. They should neither be over inflated not under inflated.
·         Always carry a safety tool kit in your used car. It must incorporate a first-aid, torches, umbrella, basic medicines, etc.
If your used car demands some repair, then do not forget to visit the nearest Automall of Shriram Automall India Limited (SAMIL). Get your car refurbished and take it on a long drive in rain.

“As a complete solution provider, we at SAMIL provide a plethora of services related to used vehicles and equipment under a single roof. Our refurbishment services are an initiative towards giving a new life to the vehicles in order to enhance their market value.” – Mr. Sameer Malhotra, CEO of SAMIL

Used Bike – Prepare for that Perfect Disposal!

What makes the disposal of a used bike complicated? It’s the lack of preparation. Various sellers walk through hurdles while they dispose their used bikes. All they need to take care of is a little knowledge on the market scenario and what goes into the preparation. So let’s check out, how we can prepare for the next disposal of our used bike.

Presentation

Anything which looks presentable can be sold out easily. Make sure that your used bike looks good so that it does not get rejected in the first impression only. If required, get its washing done or make an investment in some wet wax or chain lube. Good looks can also help in earning more on it.

Servicing

Once your used bike is ready from outside, it’s time to check out its inner parts. A mini service can serve the purpose here. Don’t miss out anything. Your efforts at this stage will result in less bargaining on your used bike.

These preparations are not that big but have a huge impact on the sale of a used bike. In case, you need an expert to carry out the disposal of your used bike, then Shriram Automall India Limited (SAMIL) is a perfect destination for you. First and foremost reason would be the transparency of the bid. Also, we have so much of options are available for the customers to choose from in one place. And in the auction, the prices of the vehicles are fixed according to what we think people are willing to pay in the market.
Interview with Mr. Sameer Malhotra, CEO, Shriram Automall India Limited (SAMIL)

There is no de-growth as far as we are concerned. We are growing 50% year on year currently across all the segments and we expect to maintain the same pace this year also. Shriram Group to Expand its Automall Business in Big Way

Shriram Automall India Limited (SAMIL) records a great response from its customers, mainly small truck operators, along with around transactions of one lakh vehicles valued at about Rs 1,500Cr in last year, conducted through its platforms. The company has drawn up an aggressive expansion plan and will soon start handling two-wheelers also.

The SME segment (including truck owners having up to five vehicles and small retailers) currently contributes around 35% of the business, while the balance is from banks, dealers and original equipment manufacturers. "Over the next few years, we want to take the SME segment's contribution to around 60%," quotes Mr. Sameer Malhotra, CEO of SAMIL.

Traditionally, small truck owners rely on the unorganised sector, where not only is transparency an issue, but customers are often taken for granted.

The second-hand sales market is currently estimated at Rs 1-1.2 lakh Cr.

ü  Of this around Rs 30,000Cr comes from trucks
ü  Rs 15,000Cr from construction
ü  Rs 15,000Cr from tractors
ü  And the balance from cars and two-wheelers.

A major chunk of this business is in the hands of the unorganised sector. To tap this market, the Group decided in 2011 to set up Automall, which incorporates all the elements of a physical bidding platform.

Physical bidding offers scope for networking, as various traders participate in the event and share information on market trends. More than 100 physical bidding events in over 100 locations take place across India, resulting in sales of more than 6,000 vehicles every month.

In 2013-14, bids were placed for one lakh vehicles worth Rs 1,500Cr, up from 60,000 vehicles worth Rs 850Cr in 2012-13.

It’s times to realise your dream of owning a car

Buying a car was always a dream for me since childhood as I belonged to a middle-class family. I clearly remember those days, when my dad used to travel by bus every day. In fact, I had also travelled with him by bus many a times. While travelling, I always used to prefer window seat and wonder how comfortable journeys would have been for people travelling in a car. Whenever I used to ask my dad about when we were going to purchase a car, his answer always revealed that money was a big constraint which kept us away from purchasing it. But, that desire always remained in my heart. And, now when I aspire to realise that dream, money still remains an issue for us.

This problem was soon sorted when I came to know about Shriram Automall through a friend. I shared my problem with him and he took me to one of the physical bidding locations of company. I was simply amazed to see a wide range of used cars that the company had within the premises of its Automall. And, the best part about acquiring a car from there was transparency that the company maintained in its deals. We all know that buying a used car in India is big risk for people. But, when I saw everything at Shriram Automall, automatically the trust developed. The company also provides loan on used cars through its parent company, STFC. Now, I feel anyone can realise his/her dream of owning a car through this platform without any issue.

Do's and Don’ts of Purchasing a Pre-Owned Commercial Vehicle

Are you hunting for a used commercial vehicle for your business? Great! That means your business is growing. But in case you are doing it for the first time, then be cautious as it can be a little intimidating thing to do. Do not relate it with buying a car because the considerations that go into the purchase of a used commercial vehicle are quite different. To make things easier for you, here are some dos and don’ts of buying a used commercial vehicle.
Do's
  • Your decision for a purchase must be based on your usage of the vehicle. Depending on that you will decide the category of options that you should explore. In case, you need it for transporting heavy goods, then a used mini truck will not serve the purpose.
  • Fuel is one of the most important considerations that you should look for. In case, you are hunting for a bigger commercial vehicle, then remember that it will consume more fuel. If your business can afford that level of consumption then only go for this option. Otherwise, you will end up in a big tension in future.
Don’ts
  • Never go unprepared while you visit a dealer to purchase a used commercial vehicle. It is mandatory for you to have all the technical knowledge so that you can make the most appropriate choice.
  • Never say ‘Yes’ until you are not sure about the used commercial vehicle. Because that will result in future problems. That’s why, it is necessary to physically inspect the vehicle through a test drive.
Now, after reading these dos and don’ts, if you wish to purchase a pre-owned commercial vehicle, then do get in touch with Shriram Automall India Limited (SAMIL). As a pioneer in giving structure bidding platforms for the trade of used vehicles and equipment, the company has spread its Automall facilities across the nation.

•  A strong growth of around 14% from 2007-08 to 2011-12 in new car segment, which further lead to huge used cars’ inventory
•  Change in consumer behaviour with reference to vehicle ownership. The duration of 5-8 years before replacement has gone down to 3-4 years.
•  Decrease in the difference between diesel and petrol prices has enhanced demand for pre-owned diesel vehicles.
•  A low population of pre-owned diesel cars

At present, around 2.5 million pre-owned vehicles are disposed in a year which takes the value of industry to over Rs. 40,000 crores.
