Honda reduces 2-wheeler prices due to reduction in excise duty

As a result of 4% reduction in excise duty of two-wheelers with reference to the Interim Budget 2014-15, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) decided to give the entire benefit to customers by reducing its products’ prices by up to Rs. 7,600.


The minimum reduction served by the company is Rs. 1,600 on Dream Neo motorcycle, which is offered at a cost between Rs. 43,150 and Rs. 47,289. Its maximum price cut, Rs. 7,600, is given on CBR 250R performance bike which is priced between Rs. 1.58 lakh and Rs. 1.93 lakh.
According to the budget, the reduction in excise duty is applicable on motorcycles, small cars, scooters and commercial vehicles, which is 8% in comparison to 12%, before. On SUVs, it has been cut down from 30% to 24 %. While large cars witnessed reduction from 27% to 24%, mid-sized cars faced the reduction from 24 % to 20%.
