Indian Auto Industry Sales Report for June, 2014

Backed by a new stable government, most of the giants from passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and two-wheelers segment reported a growth in their sales for the month of June.

The anticipated lapse of excise benefits and attractive discounts became the prime reason for a robust sale of passenger vehicles. The commercial vehicle segment stood at larger reforms and bigger infrastructure anticipated from the upcoming union budget for its growth.

Check out the table below for an insight on the sales report of all the three segments.

Auto Expo 2014 preview; expect glory at its best!

Looking at early signs, Auto Expo 2014 is expected to be the biggest auto show that India is going to witness in its history. In comparison to a figure of 40 in 2012, this year 47 vehicle manufacturers are going to participate. 69 model launches (58 in 2012) are anticipated along with 15 global unveilings; all this promises to make the petrol (and diesel) heads go drool. The venue area at India Expo Centre is 64,000 sq m which was 44,000 sq m in 2012.

As the director general at SIAM, Vishnu Mathur is going to steer the auto show for the second time after he joined the apex auto industry body in 2010. Happening in Greater Noida for the first, this auto show is probably going to be the biggest bash for Rs144,000-crore auto industry. And, this certainly means that a big number is at stake for the man along with the sector.

Upcoming 2014 Tata Vista spotted again

Upcoming 2014 Tata Vista spotted again

Tata Motors is planning to give an extensive facelift to the Indica Vista hatchback. This test-mule was spied near Coimbatore.

The Indica Vista is expected to receive a long list of cosmetic and styling updates such as a new front fascia which could be inspired by the Manza hybrid shown at the Auto expo earlier. At the rear, the tail-lamps are expected to be all-new and the current signature Christmas-tree arrangement will be ditched.  Also, the spy shots show the number plate positioned on the boot-lid instead of the rear bumper as seen on the current car.

Expect the new Tata Indica Vista to carry over the current engine range which includes a 1.3-litre diesel engine with two power output options, a 1.4-litre TDI diesel engine which is BS-III only and a 1.2-litre petrol.

Our sources tell us that the Manza will also get a similar update in near future. Tata Motors could  showcase the updated Vista and Manza at the upcoming Auto Expo in February 2014.
